  1. Exactly what I was looking for 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Apr 2015

First off I must disclose, I am a woman! I got invited last year to my high school friend's destination wedding in the jungles of Central America. What started off as a few days quickly turned into a two week excursion across the whole continent. I knew I was going to need a sturdy bag to take with me and stick by my side, as I wasn't going to let any of my valuables get more than arm's reach from me. I looked for months and just wasn't satisfied with the style, size or the price tag of other bags I looked at. I finally found one I could settle for at a local store and bought. Then almost at the last moment I stumbled across this one online. I ordered it right away, fingers crossed it would ship fast and arrived the day before my trip.
Well I am back and absolutely LOVED it! If I compare it to any of my other purses, I think I just put it through about two years of "normal" use. I used it as a foot rest on the plane, jumped in and out of countless taxis, shuttles and crowded buses with it. Hiked through jungles, along beaches and went to busy stores and markets. It was the perfect size, able to hold my valuables and still enough room to throw in whatever else I needed for the day. I was even able to toss in my friends DSLR with camera bag into it a couple of times, as well as when the wedding planner asked me to carry the programs and stack of fans up to the ceremony site (on top of a Mayan pyramid.) I started to wonder if I could run out of room with this bag. I loved the front pockets too, because my passport/wallet stayed handy and safely secure the whole trip. The side pockets always held some type of room or locker key. I also added a small clip to the strap buckle so I could have hair ties accessible. It was comfortable to wear all day long either off one shoulder or cross body. The contoured shoulder grip was a life saver, as it kept the strap from digging into my shoulder or rubbing up against my neck, no matter how much weight was in it or how much I swung it around and repositioned it on my body. It got swung a lot. I don't think I went a whole hour without moving it from left to right or behind when it was really crowded or to the front when I was sitting in a vehicle. I am so glad I bought it. It held up beautifully and it looks just as it did when I got it in the mail two weeks ago. Now as soon as I find my receipt I have to return the other one, more than double what I spent on this one.

  2. This bag revisited. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Aug 2014

I actually purchased the tan version of this bag on 11/27/11 and reviewed it here as soon as I received it. I've had this bag for 2 1/2 years now, using it almost solely as my every day carry bag, and it barely looks like I use it. I've lugged this thing here, there and every where (and a few places in between those places) and it's as good as the day I bought it. It has a few spots that show some wear but nothing resembling a tear.

This bag has served me incredibly well. I wanted an EDC bag that I could just carry and not worry about getting 'beat up' or 'dinged' during the course of daily life like I might with a nice leather bag. This bag has done that well. It has just enough room to carry your necessary essentials, while encouraging you to leave all that other unnecessary crap at home. (Yes, I said it. It takes one to know one.) "But I might need it..." Chances are higher that you won't, and you will just have the pleasure of lugging that extra whatever around with you on your adventure for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

So what's in my bag, you ask?

    - left front pocket contains: 2 check books
    - right front pocket contains: mini Mag-Light LED flashlight, hilighter, 3 writing instruments, an eraser, a monocular and my office keys
    - one side pocket contains: my business card holder and nonessential wallet items, the othe is empty
    - main compartment contains: a hard plastic document folder with 2 notebooks and assorted envelopes, paper and documents inside it (this has doubled as an unintentional filing cabinet over time and I don't need 1/2 of the items in it right now); a small lime green Eagle Creek pack-it cube for cables, backup charger and other items I don't want loose in the bag; my Moleskine daily planner, a medium Moleskine cashier, diabetic test kit with meds, the iPad with Smart Cover that I'm typing this review on, a 20 oz. bottle of Diet Coke and the book "How To Travel The World On $50 A Day: Travel Cheaper, Longer, Smarter" by Matt Kepnes
    - small internal zipper pocket contains another small book and leaflets

This bag has just enough room to carry what you deem essential, while affording you the luxury of leaving everything else at home. I was a little leery of ordering a canvas bag at first... not any more. The hard plastic document folder is necessary to keep any documents you need to tote from getting dog-eared and tattered. Other than that, snap the front pockets, put your stuff in the main compartment, throw the flap over the top of the bag and hit the door.

There are bigger versions of this bag design available. Be careful with your size election. More space = more weight to tote around on your journeys. Let the adventure begin! Step one: purchase your bag at MMB. Step two: unpack and transfer your stuff to your new bag. Step three: get busy being you. There are places to go and people to see.
